Your first day in Guadeloupe

Where to buy groceries after you land

Once you've collected your rental car, choose a grocery stop that makes sense on the way to your accommodation. You don't need to drive across the island for a particular chain: neighbourhood shops are handy for topping up after you settle in.

In the arrivals hall

There's a Carrefour Express in the public arrivals hall of Terminal 1, on Level 0, for a few essentials. Depending on your car rental company, you may need to take a shuttle to collect your vehicle. A larger grocery run is often easier after you have the car.

Le Gosier and Sainte-Anne

In Le Gosier, E.Leclerc Bas-du-Fort and E.Leclerc Pliane are options depending on your route. In Sainte-Anne, Carrefour Express and shops in town are convenient for essentials. The local market is also a good place to find fresh produce and Guadeloupean specialties.

Saint-François and Anse des Rochers

Consider Carrefour Contact in the Pradel area or Super U Bellevue on Avenue de l'Europe. You'll also find neighbourhood shops and local producers around Saint-François.

Deshaies, via the north coast

If you're driving through Sainte-Rose, E.Leclerc at Plessis-Nogent and Carrefour Market in the town centre are useful places to stock up. In Deshaies, village shops are a convenient option for anything you still need.

Bouillante, via the Route de la Traversée

The forested stretch of the Traversée is not a shopping area. Pick up groceries before crossing, or shop after arriving in Bouillante, including at Carrefour Market in Pigeon-Losteau. The Bouillante market and local growers offer other options.

Make room for local markets, small shops and farmers, too. They're a great way to discover Guadeloupe's produce without relying only on supermarkets.

Check opening hours on the day, especially on Sundays and public holidays, as schedules vary by store.

To enjoy your first beach day without filling your suitcase with gear, we can hand over your beach equipment at your rental car at the airport or at your accommodation. Delivery and collection are free for rentals of 7 days or longer.
